About Focus T25 Shaun T

We’ve seen a few comments on some of our posts requesting some background information about Focus T25 Shaun T, the creator behind the program and also the person behind the popular and successful Insanity program. We did some digging and found this brief bio on the Beachbody website. Here it is:

About Shaun T

Born Shaun Thompson, Shaun T first made a name for himself as a track-and-field star at Rowan University, where he received a BS in Sports Science with a minor in Theater and Dance.

Since then he’s put both degrees to epic use—appearing on HBO’s Six Feet Under, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, CNN, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Good Morning America, and The Doctors—and working with Nike, Boost Athletic Shoes, RadioShack, and the LA Lakers.

In 2007, Shaun T decided to turn the fitness world upside down by creating the phenomenally successful dance-based workout, Hip Hop Abs®. Then, just a year later, he developed another big hit—Rockin’ Body®— as well as Shaun T’s Fit Kids® Club and Get Real with Shaun T™, which helped children across the nation combat obesity and get fit.

Then in 2009, Shaun T and Beachbody® took it all to another level by launching INSANITY®, a 60-day total-body conditioning workout renowned for being insanely challenging—and incredibly effective.

Over the next few years, the INSANITY workout series continued to grow with the launch of INSANITY: THE ASYLUM®, the first in-home, sports-specific training program based on drills used by pro athletes; and THE ASYLUM Volume 2—the next 30 days of jaw-dropping, competition-crushing workouts.

In 2013, Shaun T again revolutionized the fitness industry by creating the world’s most efficient workout program ever: FOCUS T25. It’s about time.

Focus T25 Diet – Tomatillo and Avocado Scramble Recipe

This is the second of the Focus T25 Diet Breakfast Recipes that we are sharing. There are 5 total breakfast meals in the Nutrition Guide book (the “Get it Done Nutrition”). This is the Tomatillo and Avocado Scramble Recipe that includes a very simple list of ingredients and can be made in a relatively short period of time. Simplicity is the trend we’ve found with all the recipes in the Focus T25 Diet book – and that is why we think the program has been successful. Any great fitness program has to have a recipe guide that is easy to follow and make – otherwise, all the handwork will be shortchanged by poor nutrition. As usual, we have included the text below just incase.

"Focus T25 Diet"

Ingredients

1 Large egg

6 Large egg whites (3/4 cup)

Ground black pepper

(to taste; optional)

½ tsp. extra-virgin olive oil

3 Tbsp. tomatillo salsa

¼ medium avocado, sliced

Directions

  • Combine egg and egg whites in a medium bowl. Season with pepper (if desired); whisk to blend.
  • Heat oil in medium skillet over medium-low heat.
  • Add egg mixture; cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 to 4 minutes, or until egg whites are set.
  • Top eggs with salsa and avocado.

1,600-calorie modification: Increase whole eggs to 2 and olive oil to 1 tsp.

Focus T25 Diet – Italian Scramble Recipe

The Focus T25 Diet plan comes with some easy to make recipes. All this can be found in the Nutrition Guide that comes with the DVD set. But if you need an easy to print recipe without having to refer to the “Get it Done Nutrition” book, we’ve got your back. We plan to release simple to print recipes that you can have handy on your tablet or phone or print. Here is the first one – The Italian Scramble – which is the first of five breakfast meals included in the Focus T25 Diet book.

Ingredients

2 large eggs

4 large egg whites (1/2 cup)

2 Tbsp. grated parmesan cheese

Nonstick cooking spray

5 fresh basil leaves, finely chopped

  • Combine eggs, egg whites, and cheese in a medium bowl.
  • Heat medium skillet lightly coated with spray over medium-low heat.
  • Add egg mixture; cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 to 4 minutes, or until eggs are set.
  • Top eggs with basil and tomato.

1,600-calorie modification: Increase egg whites to 6, cheese to 3 Tbsp., and tomato to 1 whole medium tomato.

Focus T25 Gamma Calendar PDF

If you are looking for the Focus T25 gamma calendar PDF, you’ve come to the right place. If you read our gamma review, you will notice that the calendar is a big part of the T25 kit because it provides you with a detailed schedule of which of the 4 DVDs you need to choose on a particular day.

As you can see below, there are two types of schedules. The Pure Gamma and Pure Strength Hybrid. Each focuses on a specific goal and which calendar you choose depends on your goal and what you want to achieve with the gamma workout. If your goal is to get results very quickly, then the pure gamma is the program for you. While both calendars will get your ripped and help you carve lean muscles in a short period, the pure gamma gets you there faster. The pure strength hybrid, on the other hand has an additional benefits of helping you build strength (as the name suggests).

The entire workout program is 4 weeks and just like the Alpha and Beta programs, the gamma calendar workouts are 25 minutes each and you workout 5 days a week, taking a break during the weekend. Focus T25 Gamma Extreme Circuit Review

This is the final installment of our review of all the Focus T25 Gamma Phase DVDs. You can see our Speed 3.0, The Pyramid and Rip’t Up reviews. The last one is the Extreme Circuit Review.

The extreme circuit is a total body workout. The equipment here is weights or resistance band but as we have done previously, we recommend that you use weights as they are much easier to work with, especially given that you want to keep pace with the DVD and not worry about how to get your band to work.  You will be using weights throughout the entire 25 minutes, even during the warm up period. This is a very fast moving workout and you will be doing exercises like squats, hammer curls, burpees, shoulder press, upright row all using weights. The easy way to describe this workout is that you will be doing 5 circuits of workouts each lasting about 5 minutes – to make up the 25 minutes. Each circuit has four exercises which you do for 1 minute each followed by a 15 second version of those same exercises but at a much faster pace.

Focus T25 Gamma Rip’t Up Review

This Focus T25 Gamma Rip’t Up Review is a continuation of our look at each of the gamma package exercises. You can see our previous reviews of Speed 3.0 and The Pyramid. The Rip’t up workout is an intense strength workout and the equipment required is weights. You have to choose two sets of weights, a lighter and heavier set for the workout. The challenge is selecting the right sets of weights as Shaun T does not give specific recommendation and there is a chance you may have to downgrade to a lighter weight as the workout intensity increases – therefore have a backup weight around just in case.

The Rip’t up exercise is an upper body workout meant to strengthen and tone your biceps, triceps, shoulders, back, and chest. The workout starts with a cardio warmup that is similar to the one in the Beta cycle’s upper focus workout, including split lunge agility, low switch kick, double switch kick, high switch kick, static uppercut and jack uppercut – Which are all done without weights. Then it’s time to pick up the weights for the remainder of the workout. The only thing we would like to warn you about this DVD – prepare for an intense arm workout. By the time the 25 minutes is over, your arm is going to take the most pounding – but in a good way.

Focus T25 Gamma Pyramid Review

We are following up on our Gamma Speed 3.0 workout with a Focus T25 Gamma Pyramid Review. This is part of the 4 DVD set that make up the Focus T25 Gamma Phase. Unlike the Speed 3.0 phase, which uses no equipment, the pyramid workout requires dumbbells or resistance bands – but we recommend you use the dumbbells since they are much easier to work with. Dumbbell weight recommended for guys are between 10-12lbs while female weights recommended are between 5-8lbs.

The Pyramid is a 25 minute Cardio and Strength endurance test. You start the workout with a cardio warm up, followed by the pyramid exercises. The pyramid is an interval workout that takes you through a series of 10 different pyramids, with cardio exercises mixed in between them to give you a break to catch your breath. The sets in each excercise increase by one each round. Don’t get comfortable thinking you can predict the number of sets in each exercise as there are a few surprises – which push your endurance level even further. Given that this includes weights and is built on a pyramid scale, it’s one of the toughest DVDs in the gamma package. The exercises in this set include Hammer Curls, Push-ups, Deadlift, Squats, Upright Row, Pike-ups, Clean Press and more. We found the pike-ups and the push-ups the toughest of all the routines in this workout so definitely watch out for those.

Focus T25 Gamma Speed 3.0 Review

This is the Focus T25 Gamma Speed 3.0 review. The Speed 3.0 workout is one of the 4 DVD workouts that come with the gamma program. Like all the DVDs in Alpha and Beta phases, this DVD is 25 minutes long. There is no equipment required. If you’ve already done the Alpha Speed 1.0 and Beta Speed 2.0, expect a much more intense workout with Speed 3.0. In terms of layout, Speed 3.0 is more like Speed 2.0. There are two main exercise groups and you repeat each exercise group three times. But with each additional round, Shaun T increases the pace.

Speed 3.0 is an intense cardio workout. If there is one thing we have to warn you about – Speed 3.0 has lots of burbees, and the fast transition between burpees and the other moves can be hard to keep up with. If you have good burpee form, you should be able to get through this workout and keep pace with the DVD. However, if doing lots of burpees slows you down, then you may have to modify the workout so you can keep pace. If you don’t end up getting through the entire program the first try, don’t feel bad. The first time we tried, we only got to the 19 minute mark and had to call it a day. But you get better and better. We finally got through the entire program after the 3rd try. That is why we recommend that you first tackle the Alpha and Beta Phases before taking on the Gamma workouts. Check out our Focus T25 Gamma Schedule.

Yes, the workout is tough, but we can guarantee you this – you will burn a lot of calories – and the 25 minutes goes by fast. We have combed through Youtube and selected 3 videos that we think will give you a good idea of what to expect from Speed 3.0.

Focus T25 Gamma Schedule

The purpose of the Focus T25 Gamma program is to help you burn more fat and carve lean, strong muscle in a very short period of time – in four (4) weeks (see our Focus T25 Gamma Review). This program is sold separately from the base kit and is meant to be an advanced program. It is highly recommended that you complete the base kit (Focus T25 Alpha and Beta Phases) before you attempt the gamma program. But if you feel ready to tackle a more challenging workout than the base program is offering, then by all means, give the gamma program a shot. As mentioned above, the program is 4 weeks. You workout 5 days a week, just like the alpha and beta programs and rest during the weekends. Each workout is 25 minutes. When you buy the gamma program, you will receive 4 DVD containing the 4 exercises for the program. They are:

Which Schedule Should You Choose?

The schedule you choose depends on your goal. If you have to get ripped quickly (say you have to fit that wedding dress or need to get in shape for a beach vacation that is coming up fast), then you should go with the Pure Gamma schedule since that will help you build huge muscles and get defined in a short period of time. However, if you want to get ripped but also want to work on strength, then go with the Pure Strength Hybrid, which will make you strong.
